somewhere between
a place for the curious, contradictory… and in-between
i’m schyler. my friends call me schy, my husband calls me gypsayy, and my 8 year old mostly calls me bruh. haha :)
i love beautiful things, weird things, traveling, fashion, motherhood, old places, occult history, coffee shops, and getting way too deep into random rabbit holes… and have always had a soft spot for a good villain.
i’ve never really felt like i fit neatly into one box, so somewhere between is basically where i’m putting all of it… the places i go, the things i’m curious about, the stuff i obsess over, and whatever’s on my mind along the way.
for the people in-between…
for the weirdos. the in-between people. the ones who have never felt like they fit neatly into one place, one version of themselves, or one circle.
this is for you.
for the people who can love something soft and beautiful and still be drawn to the strange, the dark, the misunderstood. for the ones who can feel deeply and still laugh at everything. who can be romantic and cynical. lady like and have the humor of a 12 year old boy. (i’m sure my boys will appreciate this.) social and completely over everyone. the person ordering a pumpkin latte while reading about witch trials. the one rooting for the villain a little more than they probably should.
for anyone who has ever looked around and thought, i like these people, but i’m not quite like them. or moved between friend groups, versions of themselves, phases of life, aesthetics, interests, places, never fully wanting to be only one thing.
i think i spent a long time believing that meant i hadn’t found where i belonged yet.
maybe i was supposed to eventually land somewhere. find my people. find my style. find my place. become a more consistent, easily explainable version of myself.
but the older i get, the less interested i am in doing that.
maybe there isn’t one place i’m supposed to fit.
maybe i’m allowed to exist somewhere between all of it.
between wanting to be known and wanting to disappear for a while.
between loving home and wanting to get on a plane.
between caring way too much and genuinely not giving a shit.
between motherhood and not losing myself.
between nostalgia for who i was and excitement for whoever i’m becoming.
between beautiful things and strange things.
between light and dark.
maybe contradiction isn’t something we have to grow out of.
maybe it’s where some of us live.
that’s what i want this little corner of the internet to be.
not a place where i pretend to have everything figured out. not a perfectly curated version of my life. and definitely not another place telling you who you should be, what you should buy, where you should go, or how you should live.
i want it to be a collection.
places i’ve been and places i’m dreaming about. things i’m learning. stories i can’t stop thinking about. folklore and history and beautiful old buildings. clothes that make me feel like myself. motherhood. love. friendship. growing up. getting older. travel. weird rabbit holes. things that hurt. things that make me laugh. things i don’t understand yet.
a record of what catches my attention while i’m here.
and maybe, somewhere in all of that, you’ll recognize yourself too.
because i know what it feels like to look around and wonder why everyone else seems to know exactly where they belong.
to feel like you can move between different worlds but never fully claim one of them.
to wonder if you’re too much of one thing for one group and too much of something else for another.
so if you’ve ever felt a little difficult to categorize, you’re welcome here.
if your interests don’t make sense together, welcome.
if you’re still figuring yourself out, welcome.
if you change your mind, your style, your dreams, your favorite things, welcome.
if you feel like you belong everywhere and nowhere at the same time, welcome.
you don’t have to pick a side here.
you don’t have to make yourself easier to explain.
there’s room for all of it.
maybe home doesn’t always have to be a place where everyone is exactly like you.
maybe sometimes home is simply somewhere you’re allowed to be all of yourself.
so, to my weirdos and my in-between people:
welcome to somewhere between.
i think we’ll fit in just fine here.
