oversized denim and unnecessary sequins

there are some outfits i put on because they make sense.

rarely is that the case... because let’s be honest, that is. not. FUN.

we were going to dinner with friends, and apparently my interpretation of that was an oversized patched denim jacket, an oversized white tee, a burgundy sequin skirt and pointed white kitten heels.

which, when written out, sounds mildly unhinged. hahahah.

but i think that’s exactly why i liked it.

i’ve always liked outfits that have something slightly off about them. something too big paired with something tiny. something casual next to something that absolutely did not need to be there.

in this case, the jacket made the sequins feel less cutesy, the heels kept the whole thing from turning into “i borrowed someone’s jacket on the way home,” and the burgundy skirt was just obnoxious enough to make me happy. ;)

i think personal style gets way more interesting when you stop asking whether everything technically goes together.

because honestly... who decided it has to?

that’s kind of the whole point of personal style. some people may hate it. some people may loveeee it.

and guess what?

who gives a shit.

the jacket is oversized, worn-in and covered in patches. the skirt is tiny and sparkly. the shoes are probably more appropriate for a cocktail dress.

and somehow, all of it together makes my very boy-mom personality feel a little more girly.

perfect.

what i wore

jacket: sabbi mermaid racing denim jacket
top: oversized la apparel tee
bottom: revolve bebe mini skirt
shoes: amazon white pointed-toe heels

and because apparently this is becoming a recurring theme around here:

more is more.

especially when one of the things is sequins. hehe
